âAye, Iâm on your block.â
My eyes jerked open at the sound of Kendrikâs voice and I sat straight up in my seat, blinking rapidly as I tried to remember where I was and who was speaking to me. Turning to my side, my eyes rested on Kendrikâs brown eyes and his smooth caramel face that held an expression of confused humor.
âThe hell wrong witâ you? You ainât been sleep that damn long,â he said with the right corner of his mouth turning up into a crooked smile. âYou still snore like you used to, I see.â
âShut up!â I said, punching him lightly in the arm. Iâd always been so sensitive about my snoring. Mulah had long ago stopped mentioning it so I thought Iâd dropped the habit. Obviously not.
âWhat?â Kendrik teased with a smile. âI think itâs cute.â
I ignored him and the butterflies that started to swarm around in my stomach as I focused in on him. Looking away from his sexy smile and perfectly straight teeth, I rubbed my eyes and yawned wide, as my body reminded me all at one time that I was exhausted and sexually frustrated all at the same damn time.
âThanks for driving me home,â I told him. âYou got a way back?â
âA nigga can always find a way.â
I nodded my head and hesitated for a second. I wasnât ready for him to leave but I didnât know what else to say. I could see Mulahâs car from where I was and I knew he was home, waiting on me. I hadnât checked my phone in hours and I was sure that heâd been blowing it up. It wasnât like me to stay out so late without calling him. And here I was, wishing that I could have stayed out with Kendrik a little longer.
âLet me get your number or something so I can call you,â he said finally. I looked over at him and he was staring straight ahead. Then he pulled his bottom lip in and bit down on it before turning to me. His bedroom eyes shined in the moonlight.
He is sexy ass fuck! I thought to myself.
Kendrik wasnât ugly as a kid, but he damn sure didnât have me thinking he would look anything like he did. He could literally run right onto the pages of a magazine and fit right in. His style was rugged and plain, but his looks were on point. He had that âsexy thugâ swag down pat. He reminded me a little of the rapper, The Game. Not so much in looks but in style. He could go from intimidating to male model in seconds, although I was sure that he wouldnât be caught dead modeling shit. He looked like the type to fuck models, not be one.
âI donât knowâ¦â I started.
I glanced over at the front of my house, silently voicing my thoughts. I knew I was playing with danger. The way I was feeling about Kendrik was not the way that someone felt about a friend, and thatâs the only thing I could accept from him at the moment.
